The artworks presented here are mostly inspired by our Canadian environments, with the addition of abstracted settings reflecting my personal feelings and response to nature.
Although I am recognized as an abstract artist, I enjoy teaching a wide variety of subject matter, and landscapes is one of them. They are an incredible source for my students in the painting process. They are very inspiring to explore colour and techniques, especially when the inspiration comes from a memory, from a special place, or from a unique experience.
I love capturing the spirit of landscapes by reacting to their unique geographic characteristics, the nuances of specific light, the transitions of colours… all important aspects to consider when deciding how to represent them.
